Compare my competitor, Chad Choate, to me, Sean Conley

Let’s compare my competitor, Chad Choate, to me, Sean Conley: When Chad was born in 1984, I was 17, a student at South East High and was working as a cook at a chicken place called Bo jangles. Before Chad started Kindergarten, I worked at Mc Donald’s, Long John Silver’s, Little Caesar Pizza, Win Dixie, Publix, and Pirates Cove. I had graduated from South East High and started going part time to Manatee Community College (MCC). When Chad was in elementary school, I worked at Thornton Mazda as a parts driver, then as a mechanic, while still going to school and I transferred from MCC to the University of South Florida (USF). In 1995 when Chad was starting middle school, I left Thornton Mazda and worked as a substitute teacher,   I finished my BA in History with a minor in Anthropology, I enlisted in the United States Navy as a Electronics Technician and was assigned to the USS CONSTELLATION. In 1998 Chad started High School at Manatee (he may have had a job, but I don’t know if he wor...

One Team

I looked over at the mail and saw a disgusting advertisement by a political opponent to Misty Servia. It said " NOT a real conservative". I HATE this BS! You can be a conservative and have a moderate view points. We are NOT sheep to be Herded by a yapping dog. Some conservatives beliefs have a variety of view points and we will not let the far right of the right wing party, keep pushing us around. So stop being an idiot and realize that everyone has a variety of beliefs and do your best to convince me that I am wrong, otherwise SHUT UP. I don't agree with Maria Servia on all the things she has said and done, but that doesn't make it right to have these negative ADs. Tell me what you would do different, tell me what type of person you are and let, THE VOTER, decide! STOP dividing our County, our State, and our Country!!! ONE TEAM, ONE FIGHT, TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG, DEVIDED WE ARE WEAK! Like Comment Share

Animosity is fuel to tyranny

A true American Patriot values our society and understands that compromises provide hope for the left and the right minded groups, and to create laws or strike down laws that are lopsided will cause animosity. Animosity is fuel to tyranny. If you build enough animosity, society will break down, and the tyrant will rise from the ashes.  As a military analyst with over 25 years of researching other countries, the breakdown of society always begins with animosity, this animosity allows individuals to believe that ruthless actions are needed. The tyrant will seize the moment, gather ruthless men and women that will follow him, then the tyrant will sub divide people to pit the majority against a minority, once the majority begins to follow, the ruthless minions of the tyrant will not only control the minority, they will control everyone. A good example of this is  Vladimir Putin, the tyrant of Russia that uses his power to remain as the President of Russia.    ...

Republican In Name Only

There is a term, RINO, that has been tossed around lately. This is usually said by the unscrupulous far right groups that say RINO, Republican In Name Only, because they wish to diminish the Republicans that understand that compromises with others is need to strengthen America. These right wing factions of the right wing party is a cancer to the Republican Party and to America, just like the left wing factions of the left party is a cancer to the Democrats Party and America.

Interference by the Republican Party of Manatee in a nonpartisan race for school board

Interference by the Republican Party of Manatee in a nonpartisan race for school board sickens me and makes me lose faith in the Republican Party Leaders. A real conservative understands why we have rules and follows the rules to ensure society success. A unscrupulous conservative breaks the rules and bends the rules to meet their twisted view of how society should be designed. These unscrupulous individuals fail to understand that this great nation was founded through compromises.

GEORGE WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 17, 1796

Yesterday, 22 July 2022, the President of the Manatee County Republican Party sent an email out to the registered emails of Republican that endorses three Republicans running for School Board, which is a nonpartisan position. From my perspective, this unethical and illegal. Basically the Republican Party President, Steve Vernon, is directly campaigning for nonpartisan candidates. I wonder what other help they are getting from the Republican Party Leaders in this community. This all reminds me of what our first President said in his farewell address.     GEORGE WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 17, 1796  "However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominio...

Florida Statutes, 106.143

2021 Florida Statutes, 106.143 Political advertisements circulated prior to election; requirements: …”A political advertisement of a candidate running for nonpartisan office may not state the candidate’s political party affiliation. This section does not prohibit a political advertisement from stating the candidate’s partisan-related experience. A candidate for nonpartisan office is prohibited from campaigning based on party affiliation.”... I have been keeping a nonpartisan approach to my campaign for School Board District 4 and I have turned down speaking at partisan events. I have not gone knocking on the door of the Fat Cats of Manatee County and asked for donations. I have not in any way represented my self as a Republican Party Candidate (I have said in conversation that I am a registered republican, which is stating my partisan related experience). I can not say the same about my competitor, Chad Choate. The publicly available information clearly indicates that my competitor has...

Do you believe for-profit charter schools are an important means of providing choice for parents in our school district?

Do you believe for-profit charter schools are an important means of providing choice for parents in our school district? Yes The reason that For-profit charter schools are important is not just because they afford parents with choices but that they also create competition with the government schools. This competition helps to identify areas for improvement in government schools. All school competition, when properly evaluated, provides data points for improvement.   The basic aspects of this competition is to motivate both private and public sectors to provide a high quality product to continue financial support.

What steps do you believe should be taken to ensure all students are taught African American history as required by state law and recommended by the district’s African American Task Force?

What steps do you believe should be taken to ensure all students are taught African American history as required by state law and recommended by the district’s African American Task Force? A review of the county history curriculum is needed by a tiger team of history specialist that will provide recommended changes that will ensure that the guidelines are followed and that all minority history is properly represented.

What do you recommend be done to guarantee that all Manatee County students are at or above English/Language Arts proficiency levels

What do you recommend be done to guarantee that all Manatee County students are at or above English/Language Arts proficiency levels? English and Language Arts proficiency starts with reading and writing assignments that inspire students to read more and express more in what they write. This isn’t just done in English class but in all classes. A holistic review of reading assignments and writing assignments that is focused on English/Language Arts opportunities will find numerous inroads into other subject areas. Students that have passion in other subject areas should have reading and writing assignments that are evaluated in a manner that promotes these skills. This type of activity is common in college. For instance, a college student that writes a Biology Paper is still evaluated on their English/Language Arts as well as biological accuracy.

Should School Boards be able to control what books are in circulation in a school library?

Should School Boards be able to control what books are in circulation in a school library?   Yes The School Board needs to have top level involvement to ensure that all the schools library circulation is consistent, that the circulation is meeting educational standards and that the circulation is not infringing on the rights of citizens. As a nonpartisan elected official the school board members represent all the citizens and perform this function to ensure that a government employee doesn't make a partisan or biased decision towards the library circulation. This requires the ability to do unbiased analysis and in my opinion, all school board members should have experience in this type of analysis. As a prior military officer that conducted intelligence analysis, I was trained in unbiased analysis, and performed unbiased analysis as part of my daily duties. All decisions by the school board that evolve library circulation changes need to be accompanied by a white paper...

Separation of Church and State

I believe that the separation of church and state is a key component in letting all citizens have the freedom of belief/worship. The government stance needs to be non religious to ensure that it doesn't encourage or discourage a specific religious belief. Instead, the government needs to allow space for citizens to practice their religion or belief. My experience with this is with the military, on bases and ships there is space allotted for worship that was not specific to any religion. All service members could use the space through a sign up process. There was some times already reserved but this was done only for efficiency of larger groups that followed the same religious doctrine. I believe that schools should offer the same accommodation, to allow all religions access to practice their religion freely.  The oversight of the space should be preformed by someone trained to assist religion, but also trained to identify religious intolerant behavior and provide guidance to the sc...
