With recent conversations about curriculum, how will you ensure that students will receive a well-rounded education?

With recent conversations about curriculum, how will you ensure that students will receive a well-rounded education?  I will push for the creation of a tiger team of teachers and administrators to create a plan for improvements. This plan needs to be briefed to the superintendent and the school board in a working group while it is being developed, so corrections and concerns can be addressed during the developmental phase. The end product will have been properly reviewed by the school board during its creation to ensure that it represents the public concerns and desires. I would conduct analysis of this plan through the entire process and identify conscious subjects and bring these up for a vote by the board. I would then vote in a manner that was presented in my platform, which is as a conservative that values cost effective innovation with traditional value instilled to enhance the learning environment while creating students that value future learning opportunities.

Do you think taxes should be increased in the next three years to fund public schools? If yes, how much?

Do you think taxes should be increased in the next three years to fund public schools? If yes, how much?  I do not believe that taxes should be increased to fund public schools. With this said, a deep dive of the fiscal budget for the school district needs to be done, areas for growth and areas for cuts should be identified, then a plan implemented that has feedback loops to maintain the proper balance. This plan should be reviewed quarterly and annually to ensure budget goals are met without any negative impacts on the learning environment.

What are the biggest challenges you think your school district will face in the next 3 years

What are the biggest challenges you think your school district will face in the next 3 years?  I believe that the biggest challenge to the School District of Manatee County is to make our schools safe from lone gunman attacks while still be an inviting environment to learn. The safety of our children, teachers and support staff is paramount and is what I would focus on as the number one priority. The next challenge that I think is a priority is teacher retention and teacher hiring to ensure that the teacher to student ratio is balanced while also ensure quality teachers are kept and hired. The third challenge that I think is a priority is fiscal oversight and the efficient use of the bud

Compare my competitor, Chad Choate, to me, Sean Conley

Let’s compare my competitor, Chad Choate, to me, Sean Conley: When Chad was born in 1984, I was 17, a student at South East High and was working as a cook at a chicken place called Bo jangles. Before Chad started Kindergarten, I worked at Mc Donald’s, Long John Silver’s, Little Caesar Pizza, Win Dixie, Publix, and Pirates Cove. I had graduated from South East High and started going part time to Manatee Community College (MCC). When Chad was in elementary school, I worked at Thornton Mazda as a parts driver, then as a mechanic, while still going to school and I transferred from MCC to the University of South Florida (USF). In 1995 when Chad was starting middle school, I left Thornton Mazda and worked as a substitute teacher,   I finished my BA in History with a minor in Anthropology, I enlisted in the United States Navy as a Electronics Technician and was assigned to the USS CONSTELLATION. In 1998 Chad started High School at Manatee (he may have had a job, but I don’t know if he wor...

One Team

I looked over at the mail and saw a disgusting advertisement by a political opponent to Misty Servia. It said " NOT a real conservative". I HATE this BS! You can be a conservative and have a moderate view points. We are NOT sheep to be Herded by a yapping dog. Some conservatives beliefs have a variety of view points and we will not let the far right of the right wing party, keep pushing us around. So stop being an idiot and realize that everyone has a variety of beliefs and do your best to convince me that I am wrong, otherwise SHUT UP. I don't agree with Maria Servia on all the things she has said and done, but that doesn't make it right to have these negative ADs. Tell me what you would do different, tell me what type of person you are and let, THE VOTER, decide! STOP dividing our County, our State, and our Country!!! ONE TEAM, ONE FIGHT, TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG, DEVIDED WE ARE WEAK! Like Comment Share

Animosity is fuel to tyranny

A true American Patriot values our society and understands that compromises provide hope for the left and the right minded groups, and to create laws or strike down laws that are lopsided will cause animosity. Animosity is fuel to tyranny. If you build enough animosity, society will break down, and the tyrant will rise from the ashes.  As a military analyst with over 25 years of researching other countries, the breakdown of society always begins with animosity, this animosity allows individuals to believe that ruthless actions are needed. The tyrant will seize the moment, gather ruthless men and women that will follow him, then the tyrant will sub divide people to pit the majority against a minority, once the majority begins to follow, the ruthless minions of the tyrant will not only control the minority, they will control everyone. A good example of this is  Vladimir Putin, the tyrant of Russia that uses his power to remain as the President of Russia.    ...

Republican In Name Only

There is a term, RINO, that has been tossed around lately. This is usually said by the unscrupulous far right groups that say RINO, Republican In Name Only, because they wish to diminish the Republicans that understand that compromises with others is need to strengthen America. These right wing factions of the right wing party is a cancer to the Republican Party and to America, just like the left wing factions of the left party is a cancer to the Democrats Party and America.
